New Jersey
State Corrections Promotional Course
This course is specifically designed to strengthen and supplement the study efforts of New Jersey State Correctional Police Officers preparing for upcoming Sergeant and Lieutenant promotional exams administered by the NJ Civil Service Commission (CSC). Candidates receive 12-month access to the online course upon enrollment, providing flexibility to study at their own pace and revisit updated content as the exam approaches.
Participants will receive comprehensive instruction on all major test content areas identified by the NJ CSC, including Title 10A of the New Jersey Administrative Code, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) regulations, NJDOC Equal Employment Division (EED) Regulations, Ethics Guidelines as outlined in the New Jersey State Uniform Ethics Code, NJDOC Policy and Procedure, Effectiveness of Expression/Report Writing, Supervision, Interpersonal Relations, Situational Judgment, and Interpreting Rules and Regulations
Course content also aligns with the official CSC-identified textbook, “Common Sense Police Supervision: Practical Tips for the First-Line Leader” (7th Edition, Gerald W. Garner, 2024), which serves as a major reference source for exam development. Candidates are guided through key principles from this text as they relate to the supervisory and leadership expectations within NJDOC operations.
